Overcoming Social Anxiety.

My struggles with social anxiety came unannounced, as I was too naive to accept a ongoing battle. Growing up, I was rarely the shy individual that sat at the very back of the classroom, I was an extrovert. With no limits to contribute and share my opinions. It wasn't until after the pandemic, where I started to notice significant changes in my communication skills. Entering the overwhelming realm of college, aggravated my chances of improving. a forlorn status of myself was disappointing me as I was never like this before. My personality felt disoriented being apprehensive of properly communicating with my peers. I believe I am one of many that faced this dismay in the after effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, that had most students ,like myself, depend other sources of communication like social media. Coming back to "reality" was an unprepared step knowing the disconnection from social interactions was outstretched.

To overcome such a trepidation, I joined a communications class in my second year of college to bring back the comfort of public speaking. It gave me guidance with expanding my knowledge of different perspectives that each of my peers had on certain topics. It gave me a boost of confidence to perceive the value of my opinions. Overall, taking the course, was one of the best self-help decisions I made in order progress.
Another factor towards conquering my social anxiety was being in a diverse and extroverted group of roommates that I now proudly call brothers. They had a significant aid in my path to triumph. Their energy gave me a goals to reach and become as gregarious and genial as them. With the advice and wisdom from such intimate individuals, I was able to step out of my comfort zone more, expand my knowledge, conquer my fears, and deny any negative thoughts that would take back to square one. I was brought back to my extroverted self and learn more about my myself than I ever have before.
